Blogmas day 21 - 25 | Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas everyone!

I believe the purpose of life is to be happy, and for me that happiness comes from following the teachings of Jesus Christ, holding family extra close, and loving others more than myself. It's definitely not easy, but it's so worth it, and Christmas brings these three things together so beautifully. We must always remember that the holidays are not about receiving gifts, it's more about giving, and loving and appreciating others.

So I dare you to make someone else's Christmas extra special! Do something for someone in need, or try to put a smile on someone else's face :)

I'm very curious to learn more about Christmas in other parts of the world, so please write down in a comment how Christmas is celebrated in your country, or what your family's holiday traditions are! Also, what makes you happy? :)

Blogmas day 18 | DIY Erin Condren Christmas stickers

To be honest, I am a total planner nerd. I have a vertical Erin Condren, and I carry it everywhere! I'm so in love with my EC, but I hate how boring my pages look when I haven't decorated them! :( So I made it a weekly habit to decorate my pages every Sunday evening.

I love buying pretty planner stickers on Etsy, but as they're often pretty expensive (shipping prices tend to be very high as well), I quickly got tired of spending a huge amount of money every time on weekly/monthly sticker kits. So after a while I started making my own stickers for free! :)

In this DIY I'm going to show you how easy it is to make your own stickers for your planner, scrapbook, or whatever you like to use stickers for! :) All you really need is a computer and a printer!

Step 1: Look online for pictures you'd like to use in your weekly spread. My favourite website for pictures is definitely Pinterest! I'm doing a Christmas spread this week for the holidays, but of course you can choose whatever theme you like :)

Step 2: Go to Photoshop if you'd like to edit your images, or just copy/paste them directly from Pinterest into Word if you do not wish to edit them.

Step 3: Right click on your picture, click on "format picture", and then go to "size". Make sure to uncheck the "lock aspect ratio" box, and resize your image height to 4.76 cm, and change width to 3,81 cm.

Step 4: Repeat step 1-3 for as many stickers as you like! :) Here are a few I made!

Step 5: Save your file as a PDF, and print! :) I personally like to use sticker paper to print my stickers on, but of course you can also use regular paper.

Blogmas day 14-17 | Gingerbread Man Recipe

Hey! :)

Today I found myself wondering, what is Christmas without a yummy gingerbread man? :) And I'm pretty sure that's not much of a Christmas at all! So here's a very easy DIY recipe for all of you, to bake your own gingerbread men at home :)

So let's get started!

What do you need?

300 g of plain flour
1 teaspoon of baking soda
2 teaspoons of ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
125 g of unsalted butter
100 g of soft light brown sugar
3 tablespoons of golden syrup

What's next?

1. Preheat the oven to 180 ºC, and line two baking sheets with baking paper. In a large bowl combine the flour, baking soda and the spices.

2. Melt the butter, sugar and golden syrup in a pan over a low heat and stir until the sugar dissolves, then add it to the dry ingredients. Stir in until it forms a stiff dough, then cut it in half. If the dough is too crumbly, add a little bit of water.

3. Transfer the paper from the baking sheets to a work surface and place a portion of the dough on each. Roll out to 5mm thick, then cut out directly on the paper, leaving a 2 cm gap between each. Save the cuttings to make more gingerbread men.
4. Carefully lift the papers back onto the baking sheets and bake the gingerbread in the oven for about 12 minutes.

5. Leave to cool on the sheet for a few minutes – if you want to hang them as decorations, now is the time to pierce a hole through the top of each with a skewer – then move to a wire rack.

6. Once cool, ice the gingerbread men and decorate with sprinkles, sugar, sweets, edible glitter, or however you like :)

Don't forget to let me know how these turned out for you! :)

Blogmas day 10-13 | Festive Nails

Hi everyone!

As most of you know, I love a nice acrylic nail! Because not only can I scratch my dog amazingly well, they always make me feel like a classy princess as well, haha. So when I was at the nail salon today for my regular French manicure, my nail technician and I started talking about nail art and those type of things. Christmas is coming soon, so I asked her if she does any special Christmas nails, or if there are any specific Christmas nail trends I should know about, and she showed me a couple of pictures on her phone of super cute holiday-themed nails she did!

But as frugal as I am, there's no way I'm going back again this upcoming week, and probably not next week either. I mean, I just got a new set of French acrylics today, so getting them all redone seems like a bit of a waste of money to me, but that doesn't mean I can't do my own nails of course! So when I came home from the salon, I immediately turned to my beloved friend Pinterest for Christmas nail inspiration, and I found a ton of cute styles to try. I thought you guys might like to see some festive nails as well, so I made a quick selection of my absolute favourites. and here's what I found! :)

Here's a picture of my own nails to start!

And here's what I found on Pinterest :)

Which one is your favorite? :) Do you have any special nail looks planned for the holidays? :)

Blogmas day 7 | Glassy Not Trashy

As some of you may know, I read my Bible or my devotionals every night before I go to sleep. I like to think of the Bible as the perfect user manual on how to live my life, haha. And I also just love spending time with Jesus before I close my eyes to go to sleep.

But I've noticed for a while now that after a busy work day my eyes seem to have trouble focusing, so I started wondering if maybe there's something wrong with my eyes? But because I didn't want to complain or anything, I didn't really tell anyone, and I didn't go to a doctor either because I honestly didn't think it was such a big deal. But recently I've also started getting annoying headaches that seem to start around 7 or 8 o'clock, which is around the same time as my eye problems usually start. I'm fine in the morning and during the day, and also when I have a couple of days off work, so it really only seems to start whenever I get tired at night from working. So after a while I decided to discuss my issues with my mom, and she recommended me to go to the optometrist in my town for a free eye test, especially because both my parents wear glasses, so we figured that having eye problems might run in our family. I just wanted to be sure I wasn't damaging my eyes by ignoring my problems, so I decided to go and get my eyes checked out this morning! :)

Turns out my eyes are pretty much fine whenever I'm not too tired, but when they do get tired, glasses would really help me with my reading and they would also work well against those headaches I talked about. So I decided to choose a pair of glasses from their most affordable collection to see if I feel better when I wear them, as I do not want to waste money on things I don't need. But if I do like them, I could always decide to choose a more expensive pair later (I secretly already have my eyes on these Chloé glasses, shh!). She asked me though, if I'd mind to wear glasses, but I really don't! I actually already have a pair that I like to wear sometimes, but they're not prescription glasses or anything, I just like the way they look, haha. So I'm actually pretty excited for when my glasses are ready and I hope they will help!

Here's a picture of the glasses I picked! :) I wanted some that are easy to style with different make up looks and outfits, and that look chic yet casual at the same time! Do you like them?

Blogmas day 4-6 | My Christmas Tree

The holidays are my favourite time of the year, and setting up my tree is definitely one of the things I look most forward to, so I'm very excited to share a few pictures of my Christmas tree with you all!

Because I live in a new apartment I didn't have a huge amount of space, but I figured a narrow tree would be a good solution as it doesn't take up as much space as a wider, or a "regular", tree :) I've had a real Christmas tree in my house all my life, but I wanted to try a fake tree for the first time this year, and I'm loving it so far because I noticed it's a lot less messy haha! So I went to the store and bought a really pretty white one, and I decorated it with pink and black ornaments, and white crochet angels that my mom's friend made for me! :) I hope you all love it! :)

I'd love to see pictures of your Christmas tree as well!

Blogmas is here!

Happy December everyone!

I am not 100% sure where everyone who's reading this is from, but if you live somewhere close to me, you'll know that it's been pretty cold for a couple of weeks now. We've had a bit of snow, I've already gone ice skating on natural ice, and I currently have an apple pie in the oven that's making my apartment smell like a Christmas card :) So I guess life is good and winter is really starting, woohoo! As you can probably tell, it's making me feel all festive, and I'm more than ready for the holidays :)

Because December has started a few days ago, I felt it was time for me to do Blogmas! I'm pretty sure that most of you know what Blogmas is, but to those of you who don't know, I'll try to explain! :) Blogmas is basically an Advent calendar on my blog. It means that I will try to post every day this month until Christmas, but as December is my busiest work month of the entire year, I will probably cheat a tiny little bit, and cover a couple of days at once a few times ;) But I pinky promise I will carry my camera around every day and take a ton of pictures, and I hope you're all prepared for all sorts of Christmas-related posts like DIY's, recipes, etc!

I've started Blogmas a little earlier than planned this year! I've already started in November by posting my gift guides for him and her, so I hope that makes up for the two days I missed :) I'm really sorry for the lack of posts - I had to work all day last Thursday and Friday, so to be honest I didn't really have anything to write about that you guys might find interesting, haha.

But anyway! Blogmas day 3 is here, and today I will share some of my favourite Christmas songs in the whole world! I do not listen to a lot of pop or a lot of other worldly music because of my Christian faith, but I do enjoy quite a few Christmas songs, so I hope you all like my selection!

Here is a YouTube playlist that I made! Simply skip between songs to find the perfect one for you :)
