The Rainbow Bridge

This morning I got up to say good morning to my dog Renzo like I always do, when I noticed something was wrong. He had trouble breathing, didn't want to eat or drink anything, and he could hardly walk. I somehow managed to feed him his epilepsy medication, and that's when I saw his gums were all pale. I know from experience that pale gums are often seen when people have anemia, so I got a bit worried and immediately called the vet.

He really seemed very sick, which was strange, because he was fine yesterday. We played and ran together last night before we went to sleep, and he seemed to be very happy and healthy, and he didn't appear to be in pain or anything.

So after the vet examined him and took a few X-rays, he came back to tell me that Renzo's spleen had ruptured, probably when we were sleeping, and his tummy had slowly filled itself with blood. They couldn't really do anything besides doing an operation that removes the blood from his belly, and giving him a blood transfusion, but it wouldn't solve the problem; it would only slow it down. I asked the vet if there was a chance Renzo would get better if I chose the operation, but they told me the operation would only give me a bit more time with him, but he'd be in a lot of pain, and he definitely wouldn't get better.

So it was up to me to decide for my dog's life, which was one of the hardest decisions I've ever made. Renzo really helped and supported me when my older brother died 8 and half years ago, so making him suffer would be a very ungrateful and cruel thing to do, which is why I decided to put him to sleep.

It's a few hours later now, but my hands are still shaking, and I still have tears in my eyes. I am so upset about losing such an important part of my life, and I can't really believe he's dead :( But even though my heart is broken, I know it was the right decision, and that he's in a better place now.

I can't hear you over the volume of my hair

Hi everyone!

Do you know that feeling when your hair just feels super flat and boring, and it really ruins your mood? I've been feeling that way for a while now, as I really dislike my boring locks at the moment :( So I did what any smart girl would do in this situation, I picked up the phone and made an appointment for some fresh highlights at my favourite salon, and went shopping for some new hair products!

I've been straightening, curling, teasing, and blow drying my hair for years now, and I've had more perms than I can count, so you can probably imagine how thin and fine my hair is. I was terrified of having to cut my hair short after that much damage, but I somehow manage to keep it pretty healthy and smooth by using the right products for my hair type. I have a couple of favourites that I love and repurchase every time, but I'm also going to test out some new products that I've never tried before. I'd like to point out that I am not sponsored or anything for this haul, and that I have purchased every single item with my own money.

My teasing comb was ready to be replaced, so I picked up a super cheap teasing comb at a local drug store. A similar one can be found here.

I also picked up my favourite hair oil of all time: the Moroccanoil Treatment Light, because it makes my hair super soft and feel very smooth! Just one or two small pumps is enough for my long hair. It smells amazing and it doesn't weigh down my hair at all, which I love.

My hair salon has recently stopped selling my beloved Kérastase Masque Magistral, so I was in desperate need of a new hair mask. I love the Moroccanoil scent, so after reading a ton of positive reviews on this product, I decided to give this one a try. It's the Moroccanoil Restorative Hair Mask for weakened and damaged hair. I'm very excited to try it out!

One of my favourite haircare brands must definitely be Sexy Hair. I love the feeling of having very smooth, soft and shiny hair, because it makes it much easier to style! And this "Smooth Sexy Hair" shampoo and conditioner really help to achieve that look.

Another product by Sexy Hair, is the "Big Sexy Hair Root Pump Plus" spray mousse that gives my hair a ton of volume. I love to curl my hair, and this mousse helps hold curls very well too.

And last but not least, I got a big set of rollers in a lot of different sizes. I basically only use the large jumbo ones to create those beautiful runway curls Victoria's Secret models often wear, but I was thinking of trying out a cute hairstyle with some small rollers too this summer, so I just got this set instead :) I never spend too much money on rollers, as I don't notice any difference in how my curls turn out compared to pricier ones. But I'm not a hair dresser or anything like that, so if you know if there's a difference, please let me know in a comment! A similar set of rollers can be found here.

Do you have any hair secrets? And what are your favourite hair products?

Endure and survive

Hey there!

I hope you all had a lovely Easter, and ate a lot of chocolate! Because I sure did too!

I went to church in the morning, and spent the rest of my day with family and friends :) But of course I also managed to fit in some me-time by playing one of my favourite games: The Last Of Us!

Have you ever played it? And how did you spend your Easter? :)

New Yankee Candle!

Hey everyone!

As some of you may know, I am in love with scented candles! I recently picked up a new scent that I've never had before, but completely fell in love with. It's "Soft Blanket" by Yankee Candle, which I think is a perfect candle for bedrooms or bathrooms because it's so subtle :) And of course I find the teddy bear label utterly adorable, haha.

Yankee Candle describes Soft Blanket as "a lullaby of clean citrus, luxurious vanilla, and warm amber", with top notes of bergamot, citrus, and blackberry, middle notes of cashmere vanilla, powdery rose, and tobacco flower, and a base note of amber, cocoa, and musk. But to be honest I think it smells like a combination of baby powder and clean laundry, with a very light hint of vanilla, which makes me feel extremely relaxed and cozy. I am a huge fan of powdery perfumes (e.g. Chloé, Chanel no 5 eau premiere, Narciso Rodriguez poudrée, or Kenzo Flower), so if you're into powdery scents as well, I highly recommend you to try out this candle!

I bought the medium pillar size, which has a burn time of 80 to 110 hours. I have purchased a few of the jar candles in the past, which is probably Yankee Candle's most famous packaging, but I actually quite like this pillar design! I think it looks quite nice :)

What kind of perfumes, or scented candles do you like?
