10 super fun facts about Christmas!

Just in case you really want to impress your friends and family during Christmas dinner this year, here are some fun facts about Christmas that are simply too good not to show off.

+++

1. Twenty eight (!!!) sets of Lego are sold every second during the Christmas season.

2. The original Rudolph did not have a red nose. In that day and age, red noses were seen as an indicator of chronic alcoholism, and the creators of Rudolph didn't want him to look like a drunkard 🍺

3. Besides Rudolph, of course there's also Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, and Blitzen. Most of these are male-sounding names, but male reindeer shed their antlers during winter. So it's very likely that the reindeer pulling Santa's sleigh are either female, or castrated ✂️

4. Hallmark introduced their first Christmas cards in 1915.

5. Nova Scotia in Canada is the world's leading exporter of Christmas trees.

6. The Statue of Liberty in New York City was gifted to the US by France, on Christmas Day in 1886. As it weighs 225 tons (225.000 kg), you could consider it the biggest Christmas gift in the world.

7. The Germans are believed to have been the first to decorate their Christmas trees in the 16th century 🎄

8. The last Friday and Saturday before Christmas, are considered the busiest shopping days worldwide.

9. It's actually very popular in Japan to eat Christmas dinner at KFC. Customers have to make reservations to eat their festive bucket of chicken two months in advance.

10. In Hawaii, Santa's name is Kanakaloka🎅🏼

    1. Oooh, did you get me a present? Is it pink?

      Marlon and I will exchange gifts, go to church, and probably take the MTR around HK to check out some cool Christmas decorations! :) Then when we go home we'll eat a nice meal and some yummy treats! My parents and my grandma want to Skype us, so we'll also talk with them, and that will probably be it!
