As a fashionista, I obviously love staying up-to-date with designers and all fashion trends! However, there are a few, that I simply do not understand.
1. "Dad" sneakers
I completely understand the importance of comfort when it comes to footwear, and I love a nice sneaker just as much as anyone else. But there are so many more elegant options available! Seriously, why did it suddenly become fashionable to dress like a dad in 1995?

2. Plastic surgery gone too far
Please don't misunderstand what I'm saying here. I 100% support making small changes to one's appearance because I know how much it can boost one's confidence. But just like everything else in life, it's all about balance.
Looking like a caricature is not cute. And no one wants to be stopped from boarding a plane, for not looking like their passport picture.
Please note that this obviously doesn't mean I don't support reconstructive surgery after burns, cancer, or anything like that. The fact that reconstructive surgery is an option nowadays, is awesome.

3. Ripped, or "distressed", fashion
Shirts and pants with rips and holes in them have been "in" for a while now, and I honestly don't get it. Why do you want your brand new clothes to look like they've been attacked by a rabid chainsaw?
Take this super hole-y cotton T-shirt from Balmain for example. Did you know it costs US$1625? Talk about being ripped off.

4. Listening to someone else's opinion on what to wear
You should honestly follow every trend that you want to follow. Style is subjective, so please take whatever I just said with a grain of salt 😉
Do not listen to me - or anyone else for that matter, and wear whatever you want to wear, and whatever makes you happy. When you feel confident in your outfit, you will look hot in it for sure!
Keeping balance is important in every theme and I totally agree with this what you said about plastic surgeries. I also think we should wear what we like, not what others prefer.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree!!!!! Some trend are just inelegant (like the daddy sneakers) but some are totally nonsense (like the plastic surgery and distressed clothes)!
ReplyDeleteI'd add to the list the O'bags, the Crocs and socks sneakers, I really can't stand they uglyness!

LOL....I actually really like the dad sneakers and the ripped fashion:D But yeah....plastic surgery....those I've seen kinda freak me out a bit!
ReplyDeletePS Happy Chinese New Year. I hope you and the hubby are keeping safe, what with the corona virus scare and everything. XOXO
Plastic surgery gone too far... RIGHT?! That scene from The Hills still applies!

There's lots about fashion I'll never understand.
ReplyDeleteRipped stuff just seems sooooooooo dumb. And yeah, when your face has more plastic than a recycling plant, you've gone too far lol
ReplyDeleteI agree, some trends look very strange

I feel that plastic surgery are only for those without any other options and cannot be avoided.
ReplyDeleteAbout 1,2 and 4 - 100% agree. I like ripped clothes bur I have a little bit rebel soul :-)
ReplyDeleteI don't like the Dad sneaker trend either but as I have a knee injury I've been wearing my comfortable old running shoes for a few days and I like that the trend is around so I don't feel too out of place in them, haha!
ReplyDeleteHope that you are having a great week :)
Away From Blue
Agreed about number 2! Sometimes its taken a bit too far and you lose balance!

I love the first one!! They're so colourful!

I so agree on all of these!
ReplyDeleteI hear you, when I first saw the dad sneaker trend I was like what? No! But they grew on me lol. The distressed trend I did not mind as much but I think it is kind of over. I have a couple pairs of distressed jeans but did not pay a lot as I knew it would pass.
ReplyDeleteAnd the over done cosmetic surgery that was never a good thing. And I am guilty of binging!

I completly agree with you - especially with point 1. I hate this shoes :D
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you ! ♥
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of these trends either, especially plastic surgery gone too far! But, I also agree with your 4th point and I think you should wear what makes you happy!

Yes to all of this! My niece tends to chop up every new piece of clothing she gets and it drives me nuts! Why not just go to the thrift store and buy holey, nasty looking clothes for a lot less if that's the look you are going for?
